Last FM - continued...

Ok so I've been using Last FM for the last week, and what do i think? Well out of all the social networking websites i signed up for, I have been using Last FM the most, in terms of newness, as I previously was on facebook prior to taking this course.

On programs like twitter, once i have updated my status and read what others have recently updated, i'm over it. However with Last FM however, i tend to keep listening song after song. Chances are if i start with one artist i like e.g. Bloc Party, as i did earlier today, I will be listening to a lot of songs i already know, that are considered similar to them. Which is great! But in addition to listening to familiar songs, you also get to listen to similar songs by similar artists. This is also great, I'm now currently listening to songs that I've never heard before and most of them i like immediately. Normally when i hear a song i like by a band i don't know, i usually try to listen to other songs by that artist, to get an idea of other songs that they sing. It's basically how i build my musical interests. I'm always looking for something new listen to. If i like the song, then it's likely to be on repeat for the next few weeks, even months on my itunes.

What can i say i love music, who doesn't and a program that allows me to listen to music by artists that i may not be familiar with, but are similar to ones i do know and i love, then i'm most likely going to love it to.

twitter - novelty messaging site or not?

So I've been using twitter for the last 2 weeks now, and I've used it to update my status every now and then, sometimes several times a day. At the moment i enjoy the novelty of going on twitter and updating my status or saying random things to my friends i follow or that follow me on the site. Though at the moment unless i log on to twitter and refresh my page every now and then, I don't know if some one i follow has updated their own status. Unlike facebook, which sends an email to me every time someone writes on my wall.

I've just add my phone number into twitter and trying to figure out how to get twitter to actually send me a text message every time someone i follow updates their status. I'll have to figure it out, but i think i know basically how to do it. If it works good for me, if it doesn't, I'll have to try again.

Updating my status on twitter, is similar to updating my status on facebook, both consists of Corrine is......., showing what I'm doing at that very moment. Since I've been using facebook longer, i tend to prefer to update my status on it. But i do like the idea that twitter is slightly different and allows a text message to be sent to your phone, free of charge (at least they claim it), hopefully i won't get a big telephone bill next month :S

On a lighter note, i like calling updating my status on twitter - "twittering". Its fun haha and rolls off the tongue. Corrine is twittering, Corrine likes twittering on twitter, twit, twit twit.

Last Fm

Ok so i just realised, that if i want Last FM to show what songs i recently listened to, then i have to actually play the entire song. Not good for people like me who change songs every 2 minutes. I'm not one for listening to a whole song in case i love it!

Oh well ...
So I've joined 5 of the social websites for this course

Twitter
Facebook
Flickr
Google Calendar
Last FM

So what do I think of these websites....
I like them yes, but that might just be initial newness of it all.

Though when last fm is connected to your i-tunes, theres a chance that people could see the potential embarrassing songs you listen to...
